Drake bay

Drake bayor Bahía de Drake, is a remote and beautiful bay located on the Península de Osa, in southeast Costa Rica. It is known for its biodiversity, virgin rainforest and direct access to the Corcovado National Park, It is one of the richest in flora and fauna on the planet. It is also the starting point for tours to the Cano island, famous for snorkeling and scuba diving.

How to arrive?

The best way to get to Drake Bay is by plane with SANSA Airlines. We can book a cab from the airport for $20 per person, payable directly to the driver.

Car route from San José

  • Two possible routes: through San Isidro de Pérez Zeledón or along the coast (Quepos and Dominical).
  • Both arrive at Palmar Norte ? Chacarita ? Rincón de Osa ? Drake.
  • Duración: Aprox. 8 hours.
  • Requiere 4×4 from Rincon to Drake

Car to Sierpe + boat

  • Follow route to Palmar Norte ? cross Rio Terraba ? arrive to Sierpe.
  • Available parking for $6/day

  • From San José with TRACOPA
    • 5:00 AM to Palmar Norte, then taxo to Sierpe.
    • 8:30 AM directly to Sierpe..

  • Boats from Drake: 7:15 AM and 2:30 PM, $20 p.p.

Boat ride details:

  • Departure from Don Jorge restaurant in Sierpe.
